Friday Finish... John Deer!

I finished this fun little quilt! It is so cute..I can just see some little boy dragging it around!

I posted previously about the construction...it was made from a panel that was intended to be a book. So I just cut the pages apart and added some borders around each one and some John Deer fabric sashing ...easy peasy!

The backing is a John Deer flannel, so will be really cozy!
And as usual, though, I didn't have quite enough, so patched together all the little scraps!!
For the quilting I just did straight lines. Or to be more exact, I did squares around the pictures and borders....turn the quilt around a million times, drive me crazy squares !!!

Next time I will just straight line quilt straight across the whole thing! Live and learn!

This one is going to be for sale, so maybe someone will think of it as a good Christmas present!!

I am checking out TGIFF...this week over at Missy Mac Creations.....and see what everyone else got done this week!!

Work in progress..Salt Air!

Play time !!
I am cutting into my Salt Air fabric...love these colors.

[And don\t forget to enter my giveaway for my 200  follower milestone HERE.]

Anyway.....I am just making little bricks ..

I cut 5" pieces out of the jelly roll..

and added some plain "natural"  2 1/2" blocks on the ends...

then sewing them all together...

And..I have been very good about trimming up my scraps and adding them to my "granny square" basket!!

It is going together very quickly, and I really like the colours in this line..Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket! I think I am going to like this one!!

So ...now to link up to TN&TN

Another milestone!

Well....I have passed another milestone!

The 200 follower milestone!

Wow! I am so amazed! And I absolutely want to thank all of my followers! I really do appreciate you dropping by to visit! And even more so, when you leave a comment to say hello!

It is truly  amazing to have a community of "friends" to offer opinions, encouragement, ideas, inspiration and suggestions! I have learned so much, and value the welcoming world of blogland friendships!

So....to show my appreciation...I thought I would have a little give-away!  I bought myself one of these Hera Markers...and bought an extra one for one of my lucky followers.

So to enter...yes, you must be a follower...and leave me a comment telling me what your favourite quilting tool or gadget is. I haven't used this Hera marker much yet, so really cant comment on it, but have read good things about it.

Give away will close next Sunday, Sept 2..(one week), and I will announce the winner on Monday Sept 3 (which is actually a stat holiday here in Canada) !  Good luck!

Comfort Cove finish!

Well, as my DH said....I have been sitting on this fabric for long time !! I bought the fat quarter bundle on our trip to Newfoundland last year. ..it is Art Gallery fabric...so nice!

We met up with a fellow blogger there, Andrea, from Comfort Cove Designs, who was so kind. She took us out to lunch and then we went quilt store shopping! I haven't seen Andrea blogging for a long time, but I know she was returning to work, so has probably been busy.

Anyway, I have posted previously about the progress on this quilt...and now it is finished ! YEAH!

The pattern, called "Morning Glory"by Pine tree Country Quilts, was out of a "Quilt" magazine from June/July 2011.
It is for our queen size bed, so is quite large!  about 100" x 85" ..so hard to get a good picture!

the back...

.... a bit of detail, to add interest..

And it is quilted with an all over loose flower pattern..

I am so happy with this one! It is on our bed now, and I love it!!

So I get to link up to TGIFF over at Amy's Crafty Shenanigans today.. ...cuz I have a finish this week !!

Dear John....or I guess it is John Deer !

I have not joined in WIP Wed for a long time,so thought I would share what I am working on this week..linking up to WIP at Freshly Pieced

and also The Needle and Thread Network!

So, I bought this panel about a year ago..actually in Newfoundland! (thanks again Andrea)  It was supposed to be a cloth book..

I cut the pages apart and sewed a 1 1/2 " white, then 2 1/2" yellow border around each picture.

Then I joined them together with some coordinating John Deer fabric and a little black border....

It will end up about a twin size quilt.

I bought some John Deer flannel fabric for the back, but of course didnt have enough!! So I pieced it together with some green, and used every little scrap I had!!

It  is now basted and I have started quilting! I am using a straight line quilting around each picture, and between the blocks.

I have no idea why I started making a John Deer Quilt! I have no grandsons...and no prospect for any in the foreseeable future! It just looked like fun, I guess. Anyway, it is almost done...maybe I can sell it and buy some new fabric :)

Appliqué update

I really haven't had much time to work on this, but I do have a few squares finished.

It is nice to have something to take along when we travel, and it doesn't take up much room, or need a lot of equipment.

The pattern is in this book.. and someday it might actually be a quilt!!

Blogger gathering

Last week Monika ..from My Sweet Prairie..arranged for a few of the local bloggers to get together. We had Sheila visiting from Nova Scotia..so it was a special event! Thanks so much Monika!

Monika said that I could borrow her picture, as I forgot my camera! Her son took this picture. And he has inherited his mom's creative gene and is starting to work in leather ! Amazing!

So here we are from left to right: Annette from In Stitches & Seams, Michelle from Periwinkle Quilting & Beyond, Sheila from Sheila's Quilt World, me  from Butterfly Quilting, Monika from My Sweet Prairie, and Brenda who doesn't have a blog, but was part of the gang!

We met at Michelle's quilt shop...and for the first time EVER ...I left with out buying anything...we were too busy talking!! Guess I have to go back this week to fix that!

Annette (far left) is the quilter that we have been voting for in the McCalls challenge. She has progressed to the next round.. and has done a great job with this challenge too. She showed us the fabric that she had to work with, and I thought it would be incredibly difficult to create anything, but she pulled it off with this beautiful piece.

so here is the link to keep voting! Let's help her to get through to the next level! You can vote everyday!!
 Good luck Annette!

Purple Parade finish!

I feel like I have been away for a long time..and in fact have not blogged for a very long time. I am still here....and actually have been getting some sewing in now and again!

My finish:  Purple Parade...

I tried straight line quilting for this one, on the diagonal. I didn't have a Hera marker (gotta get me one of those!) but used the edge of my sewing machine screw driver to make a light mark to follow...

The back is a mauve fabric, with a few of the leftover blocks from the front.

I think purple is my new favourite colour!

My daughter was home for a couple of weeks....so I had a little helper with me...Zoe...isn't she cute!

So I am going to link up to TGIFF and go over and see what inspiration there is in everybody else's finishes.  Have a good weekend!
