So, I bought this panel about a year ago..actually in Newfoundland! (thanks again Andrea)  It was supposed to be a cloth book..

I cut the pages apart and sewed a 1 1/2 " white, then 2 1/2" yellow border around each picture.

Then I joined them together with some coordinating John Deer fabric and a little black border....

It will end up about a twin size quilt.

I bought some John Deer flannel fabric for the back, but of course didnt have enough!! So I pieced it together with some green, and used every little scrap I had!!

It  is now basted and I have started quilting! I am using a straight line quilting around each picture, and between the blocks.

I have no idea why I started making a John Deer Quilt! I have no grandsons...and no prospect for any in the foreseeable future! It just looked like fun, I guess. Anyway, it is almost done...maybe I can sell it and buy some new fabric :)

  1. Oh, this is so sweet - John Deer is very popular, so if you think of selling, I am sure it will be snatched right up! Love the piecing of the front and especially the back.

  4. Well, you will have a finished John Deere quilt no matter why you ended up with the panel/blocks. It's a great alternative to making a book.

  7. That is so funny! I love making items that are for no one in particular- those are fun projects. I'm sure you'll find some little boy out there that would love this quilt ( or a grandma who wants to buy it)

  13. Nice way to use those panels. You'll probably find a little boy who just needs a tractor quilt.
